Your Silly Little Plans
So really, what is the
perfect life that many strive for?
It is that
dream of having the perfect job or business, that a gives us a lot of money
while giving us time for our families – or just lots of personal time. It is
being able to have 2 or 3 nice cars and being able to send your kids to the
‘best’ schools, right out of the country, which will increase your ‘ratings’
with your friends as you climb higher up on the ladder of “respectability”.
And of
course, there is the “God” dimension, where you are also a ‘worker’ in ‘church’,
a respectable deacons or deaconesses – maybe even a ‘pastor’ , and then we can go on with our nice
lives, content in our safe bubbles, giving tithes and offerings, coasting along
with our desires met while overcoming the little challenges that come every now
and then to spice up our lives. Of course, these troubles
must NOT shake our ‘equilibrium’, till we come to a good old age, having
encouraged and ensured our kids are married to ‘good’ partners, preferably from
our own tribe, of course.
The perfect
life…
However,
what is interesting to observe is how many who are able to attain the ‘perfect
life’ begin to get totally dissatisfied when they have finally climbed the
challenging pinnacles of the obstacles that stood between them and their
dreams. They finally get the money, marriage, position, power – or whatever
thing people live, fight and die for in their quest for fulfilment and worth –
and then they realise that the attainment of their dreams does not change the
fact that real fulfilment and worth still remains a dream. Clearly
observable are the high suicide rates in many stable economies of the world,
where ‘success’ is attained pretty quickly. The irony is that it is as though
the inability to achieve set aspirations keep many of us alive as we hope and
work – and LIVE another day – in our pursuit of the THINGS that will finally
give us validation.
What is even
sadder is that for the supposed Christian and God-chaser, the people of the
kingdom, the ingrained understanding is that we also live and die for the rat
race – BUT of course, this time, we have the Holy Spirit and God as aces up our
sleeves. God is aptly invoked in a prayer as a catalyst to help us achieve OUR
dreams and ambitions, because it is not about what He may want, but after we
have decided on the course of action and the paths we have chosen as our chosen
course to gain (often) earth-based satisfaction, then he is conjured in a
prayer, an anointing session, a vituperation of angelic tongues to validate our
choices…
And yet, The
Master clearly said “After all these THINGS do the Gentiles seek, but seek ye
FIRST The Kingdom of God – and all these THINGS will be added to you…”
Have you
ever considered the fact that your best plans and your highest goals, your
great dreams and ‘life-changing’ causes which you pray for, fight for and often
scheme for are totally puny, but remain gigantic to you, just like a teaspoon
of sugar may look ‘massive’ to the ant, when The Designer has a sugar refinery
in mind for you to handle – as part of HIS plan, and not yours? And yet, in HIS
plan, you handle something much bigger, something much grander, something more
eternal, something more in line with his Kingdom, something of a “GINORMOUS”
scale, only if you would honestly let go and stop scheming, deceiving yourself
about the fact that you are submitted to his will when you have never stopped
to take stock of your life, burnt your bridges behind – which is a CLEAR,
defining and scary moment – and then made him Lord, indeed, of all, thus,
finally allowing his Kingdom have ONE more heart where it has totally
conquered.
Maybe the
biggest challenge is not even understanding what His Kingdom is about, and
maybe we think in our services and prayers and worship sessions and dancing and
tonguing, we operate in his Kingdom, when in reality, it goes beyond these
INDIVIDUAL actions. For in reality, The
Kingdom of the King is any heart, home, life, nation or territory where his
will ALONE is done by a subject or SUBJECTS who are in total submission.
May your
Kingdom come, Lord, in our hearts till it totally overruns our earth in
totality…
Maranatha!
Until we surrender, we live a "self" life outside his will....I good one...
